As one of the world's most accomplished endurance-racing drivers, Hurley Haywood has amassed an astounding number of wins in this most intense form of motorsport - five overall victories at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, three at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and two at the 12 Hours of Sebring. He also has the 1988 Trans-Am title to his credit, as well as two IMSA GT championship, three Norelco Cup championships, a SuperCar title and 18 IndyCar starts. During his career, some of his most important wins were behind the wheel of Porsche race car making him a legend amongst enthusiasts.

For helping Porsche win the 24 Hours of Le Mans overall in 1977, Hurley Haywood received this brand-new ’77 930 Turbo as a gift from the factory in which he drove a Porsche 936 to victory with Ju¨rgen Barth and Jacky Ickx. As requested from Mr. Haywood, this 930 was equipped from the factory with an adjustable boost knob and an electrical cutoff switch like those in Porsche factory racing cars. The front hood was also treated to two distinctive stripes on the corner of the front hood, in burgundy and gold, applied by Haywood when new.

In 1978, Haywood sold the 930 to his good friend Chapman J. Root II, whose great-grandfather designed the original Coca-Cola bottle. Mr. Root, who added the Porsche to his notable collection of sports cars, has cherished this 930 for the last 40 years.

This Porsche is stunningly presented in its original colors of Black over a Cork Leather sports-seat-equipped interior. As per the COA, it was also ordered with electric sunroof, Black roof liner and Pirelli tires. The 930 was recently treated to an engine rebuild by noted Porsche technician David Glenn, who previously worked at both Ruf and Porsche Motorsport North America. Documenting this special 930 Turbo are a letter and e-mails from Hurley Haywood, service receipts, Porsche COA, owner’s manual and much more.

Hurley Haywood’s racing career is synonymous with the winning reputation of the Porsche 911. Now is the opportunity to own his personal 930 Turbo given to him by the factory!
