LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1968 Ford Mustang GT

Ford completed the first redesign of the legendary Mustang for the ’67 model year with improved dimensions to allow the installation of a big-block – the Thunderbird 390. The most noticeable design changes were the larger/deeper grill mouth and concave tail lights. Ford then provided minor changes for the second model year in ’68 that focused on safety such as the two spoke energy absorbing steering wheel, shoulder belts, and side markers.  Car and Driver testing, an automatic-equipped GT-390 posted a 0-60 mph time of 6.3 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 14.8 seconds. Ultimate performance numbers didn’t matter, though, when Steve McQueen drove a 1968 Mustang GT-390 through the streets of San Francisco in the movie “Bullitt” to create one of the all-time great car chase scenes.

This is a very rare chance to purchase a one family owned from new, factory “S” Code Mustang GT! This example was built at the San Jose, California assembly plant and sold new at Eagle Motors in North Burnaby, British Columbia on November 29th, 1968. The original owner ordered his fastback in the attractive Highland Green paint with black-out hood treatment complemented by an Ivy Gold vinyl interior and loaded with options. This paint/trim combination would be only 1 of 4 ever produced from the factory as confirmed on the Marti report. Under the hood is the numbers matching “S” code 390ci big block backed by an C-6 automatic transmission. This rare pony came highly optioned from the factory including black-out hood treatment, GT equipment group, limited slip rear axle, convivence control panel, visibility group, wheel lip moldings, sport deck rear seat, console, power disc brakes, power steering, rear window defogger, am radio, interior décor group, reflective group, deluxe seat belts and FR70x14 wide oval radial tires.

The 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback is an icon of pony car design and it has truly stood the test of time, as it is considered by many to be one of the most important Mustang models ever produced. This car comes fully documented with the comprehensive Marti report and complete with a warranty/maintenance service booklet. With this combination of classic colors, factory “S” Code 390 and huge option list makes this is undoubtedly one of the most desirable fastback mustangs ever built.
