LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1958 Chevrolet Corvette
1958 marked the first year for the four-headlight design on the Corvette. This general design would be around until 1962 with a few tweaks, but the new for 1958 models had a few unique aspects that were only around the one year, making them the most unique of the solid axle Corvettes and louvered “washboard” engine hood and chrome “spears” on the rear trunk lid. They were also available with no less than five variations of the famous 283 cubic inch engine, from mild 230hp to the wild 290hp Fuel Injected engine.
This desirable 1958 model was sold new at Courtesy Chevrolet in Los Angeles California on May 31st, 1958. The car was ordered by Mr. James L Bray who was a registered Surgeon and a professor at the USC School of Medicine. This Corvette is equipped with the rare 283ci/270hp Dual Quad engine backed by a Powerglide automatic transmission. It is finished in the attractive Snowcrest White paint with Silver coves complemented by a gorgeous Red Interior.
The car remained in Mr. Bray’s ownership until 1987 as he kept all of his California registration slips. He kept very good care of it as it remains largely original condition today. The car was then sold to Daniel Kennedy from West Springfield, Ma where it would remain until 1992. It would then be sold to Robert OrFaly would remain the caretaker from 1992 until recently. With documented ownership, this car has been well taken care of since new and kept in great collector condition.
