Fully Documented Y82 Special Edition “Bandit” 4 Speed Trans Am
Particular cars become famous for many reasons, revolutionary design, leading performance or they are featured front and center in movies and TV shows. Some cars develop a cult like following based on their appearances on the big screen with the most notable examples being the 1969 Dodge Charger made famous in the Dukes of Hazzard, 1968 Mustang fastback from Bullitt, even the 1976 Ford Gran Torino seen in Starsky & Hutch. But certainly one of the most popular has to be the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit which remains so popular today among collectors today.
Presented here is such a car, a factory Y82 Special Edition 1977 Pontiac Trans Am with factory 4 speed and Pontiac 400 engine. This car was shipped from the Norwood assembly plant May 23 1977 to Bowel-McLean Motors to be sold, fully loaded with all the desirable options including power windows, Saf-T-Lok power door locks, tilt steering wheel, electric rear glass defroster, previously mentioned Y82 Special Edition package (the “Bandit” striping/appearance) and the rare option of factory Air Conditioning. Being a 4 speed, the car is also equipped with the desirable Pontiac 400 engine. The car has been meticulously maintained and collector owned showing just 26,800 original miles. The body on this car remains original and unmolested while being treated to a fully polished application of correct black paint and gold stripe kit. The car is absolutely beautiful with the original black interior showing as though it was never used. In recent years the following of these cars has been very strong and this car represents a great opportunity to acquire a very clean, fully documented example which could be shown as part of a collection of driven and enjoyed.
