When a car is as good as the Shelby Cobra,
there are going to be imitators, and in some cases those imitations get so good
they rival the original, ERA Cobra Kit cars are such a car. Voted best Cobra
Replica at the annual S.A.A.C. meet 15 of the last 16 years, they have
developed a reputation of quality cars that are built to last.
This particular replica is a 289 model, faithfully reproduced body on a stiffened chassis, improving
handling and ride quality by reducing flex and body shake. The fibreglass body shows
no signs of stress or cracks, again as a testament to the quality chassis. This
car is powered by a 375 c.i. Ford small block with Yates heads, custom Cook’s
exhaust system, all working together to produce a wild 735 horsepower. The
power then goes to the ground through a 5 speed manual transmission and a
custom ERA rear end/suspension setup housing 3.91 gears. This makes for a car
capable of running in the 10 second ¼ mile range at approx 135 mp/h. Featuring
a complete interior, including carpet, full gauges, roll bar and 5 point
harnesses, this is a completed car, ready for time on the track or street.
