NCRS Top Flight – GM
Canada Documented – L71 427/435hp
In the
collector car world, it is not only important for the cars to present
themselves correctly, but also vital that the evidence be there to support the
way they are presented to be authentic. For cars sold by General Motors in Canada they are both cursed by the less
than ideal weather, but blessed with fantastic documentation provided by GM
Canada Historical Services. Bulletproof evidence of how the car was optioned, and
to which dealer it was original delivered among other important pieces of the
puzzle.
This very
special Corvette was delivered new in 1967 from Gorrie’s Chev Olds Ltd. in Toronto, Ontario. Just as delivered, it is finished
in Goodwood Green with a white stinger hood and black interior. The coupe was
outfitted with some fantastic options, most obvious and notable being the L71
427 Tri-Power engine factory rated at 435 horsepower with a Muncie M21 close
ratio 4 speed transmission. Other interesting options also featured on this
coupe were factory head rests, rare factory shoulder harnesses, power disc
brakes, posi rear end and a push button AM/FM radio. This Corvette has been
fortunate enough to have previous owners who recognized how special a car this
was, and thus took special car to ensure it survived. Careful restoration has
resulted in a Corvette which has achieved NCRS Top Flight status twice as well
as being Gold Certified by the National Corvette Certification Board. Adding to
the desirability of the car is that the documentation does not end with just
the GM Canada, it also comes with a nearly complete tank sticker, carefully
removed during restoration, once again proving how special of a car this is and
that all options shown are proper and authentic. Bulletproof documentation, a
very sought after drivetrain combination, a great look and the awards to back
it up ….. A truly collectible 1967 Corvette.
