The film and entertainment industry is a powerful tool. In
the case of many automobiles, simply being featured as part of a movie has
helped incredible cars receive the attention the have always been entitled to.
The animated movie “
CARS” brought the
spotlight back to the Hudson Hornet, not since the 1951-1953 Nascar days has
the Hornet been so looked upon with admiration.
This “Twin H-Power” 1953 Hudson Hornet presented here has
been beautifully restored to its original glory. Painted Turquoise with a white
top, this Hornet is also equipped with bumper guards, chrome wire wheels
wrapped in wide white all tires and all Hornet specific trim, all in beautiful
condition. The interior further compliments the exterior with matching
turquoise and white upholstery on the two bench seats, it also features full
instrumentation, a push button radio and even a “weather control” heater under
the dash. One of the main features of the Hudson Hornet that made it perform so
well was the “Twin H-Power” 308 cubic inch straight 6 cylinder engine also
featured in this beautiful Hudson.
Developing 170 horsepower with help from the dual carburetors and dual manifold
induction, the power was put through a dual range Hydra-Matic automatic
transmission to a leaf sprung solid rear axle, the cars were exellent handing
cars, also assisted by the independent front suspension, along with 4 wheel
hydraulic drum brakes. The Hudson Hornet was one of the most successful race
cars of the early 1950’s, a fact that has been further emphasized since the
release of the movie “Cars”, the Hornet has gathered an impressive following
with a generation of auto enthusiasts who perhaps never even knew about the
legacy created during early 1950’s NASCAR and the car that was nearly
unbeatable.
