It has been said that history often repeats itself. In the
height of the muscle car in the 60’s & 70’s, Buick, a division of GM known
for building the cars your grandparents would drive decided to get into muscle
cars. The Buick GS & GSX Stage 1 cars turned out to be among the most
impressive muscle cars on the road, producing big power numbers and
performance. Fast forward to the 1980’s when things were just starting to get
interesting in the performance world, Mustang 5.0’s, Trans Ams and Camaro’s
were starting to perform again, and who else was back at the forefront?!? None
other than Buick with the Grand National, and more notable, the one year only,
limited production Buick GNX.
Presented here is #425 of 571 GNX’s produced. This car shows
beautifully in its factory color of black with GNX specific interior. The
odometer reads but a mere 4,868 miles on the GNX specific Stewart Warner
gauges, meaning this 3.8L Turbo V6 engine and 4 speed automatic transmission
remain in excellent condition. It has been collector owned and maintained for
many years, and the overall condition of the car is a true testament to the
care it has recieved. Making this Buick even more special is that it retains
the GNX book, jacket and shirt that were delivered with these cars when new!!!!
A beautiful example of the fastest car you could buy from General Motors in
1987. It is a true piece of history, and proof that when they chose to, the
people at Buick could build one very impressive performance car.
