1979 ushered in a new era in the Mustang community, in came what would become one of the pioneer cars bringing performance back to American cars. Built on the new “Fox” chassis, the Mustang could now be equipped with the 302 V8, or as it would later become famous as, the 5.0.

Recognizing that this was a critical year in the history of the Mustang, one particular enthusiast/collector went to his local dealership, Friendly Ford in Miami Beach and purchased a Indy Pace Car edition. Fully optioned including leather steering wheel, automatic transmission, sunroof, factory surround sound system and of course the 5.0L engine, the proud new owner promptly took the car home and stored it, and so the car sat with an incredible 300 original miles showing. Purchased from the original owner, the car now resides here at LMC, showing 306 miles on the odometer, still sporting its original, date coded production tires, original belts, hoses, clamps, tags, markings, original warranty card never even filled out and still in the packaging. This is a genuine time capsule car commemorating the return of performance to the Mustang brand, and a car that helped launch the modern muscle car era.
