1971 Plymouth Duster 340
Fully Documented, Never Restored Original
The original muscle came to be by stuffing a large motor into a midsize platform, Plymouth took it to a new level by dropping a high revving, powerful small block into a compact car. The Plymouth Valiant was well known as a stylish economical car, but when the legendary Plymouth 340 got put between the fender wells, the Duster was born. Quickly developing a performance reputation and surprising many big block muscle cars. Combined with their low buck purchase prices, they soon became a favourite among drag racers as well. Because of this many of these amazing cars were chopped, raced, beat up and then forgotten.
Many things make this FC7 Violet 1971 Plymouth Duster so special, not only does it retain its original numbers matching 340 motor and numbers matching automatic transmission, but still has its original paint, original interior, original factory chalk marks. The car was retained by its original owner until July 2007 when LMC purchased it. Soon after it was sold to a very discriminating collector who would be the cars next care taker, until just recently when LMC re-purchased it from him. The performance nature of these cars make it a truly unique situation to find one that has survived in this incredible condition and is a true testament to the care this car has always received. Sold new at Brown-Demeyere Motors in Simcoe, Ontario October 16, 1970 and painted FC7 Violet (the Plymouth equivalent to Dodges Plum Crazy), with optional black/gray seat covers. This 2 owner car has only 35,005 miles from new with the majority being put on by its original owner. Of course it also comes fully documented with original warranty information, starting instructions, maintenance receipts owners manual and original broadcast sheet. It was featured on the cover of Muscle Car Review in February 2009 It represents a once in a lifetime opportunity purchase a time capsule in the form of a 1971 Plymouth Duster and is still ready to surprise everyone on the street or strip one more time!
