In 1968, anyone who
was well off enough to own one of these cars would have been at the very top of
the food chain in the peak of the Muscle Car era. They were priced on the very
highest end of the market, and appealed to professionals that wanted to stand
out from the crowd. They had performance, comfort and style all in one package.
This beautiful Shelby
GT 500 has been collector owned and is one of only 90 GT500’s built in 1968
with the 4 speed transmission and factory Air conditioning. It was the 1871st
built in the Metuchen Plant in
Edison
NJ
and was assembled on
February
15th 1968
and delivered to Schanzmeyer Ford in
Jefferson
Missouri
. This stunning example has been fully restored
and is finished in its original livery of # 3073-A Sunlight Gold paint with
Black Interior. The stunning looks of this car are further set off by the
optional 10 spoke cast aluminium wheels and Lucas driving lights. The
beautifully detailed Police Interceptor 428 – 4V engine is conservatively rated
at 335HP is mated to the Top Loader four speed transmission and 3.00 ratio rear
differential. In addition to the
previously mentioned factory A/C, this
Shelby
also has the optional tilt away steering wheel,
power steering, power front disc brakes, sport deck rear seat which are of
course all documented by a deluxe Marti report, a copy of the original Dealer
invoice and listed in the Shelby World Registry. If you’re looking for a truly
