For the
2011 model year, the big news for Mustang enthusiasts was the improvements seen
on the GT model, but Ford and Shelby could not let the GT have all the glory
and made some impressive, yet subtle upgrades to the flagship GT-500 model. The
biggest of these changes coming in the engine compartment, the familiar 5.4L
supercharge DOHC engine has been tweaked further to 550 hp, but most notably,
the entire motor, including the block, is aluminum. The results are a weight
saving of over 100 lbs off the nose of the car making for much improved
handling characteristics!
