Following in the footsteps of the ever popular mid
year Corvette was going to be difficult. Fortunately for Corvette enthusiasts,
Chevrolet was up for the challenge and with the introduction of the C3 body
style in 1968, they began another exciting chapter in the history of the
Corvette. By 1970, Chevrolet was now offering the 454 as an optional engine in
the Corvette, with the LS5 being factory rated at 390hp!!!
This Cortez Silver 1970 Corvette LS5 454 coupe was
originally purchased at Jack Ammatucci Chevrolet in WheatonMD., October 10th, 1970.
The customer elected to outfit the silver coupe with beautiful red interior,
something to really catch your eye when the t-top roof and rear window are
removed on the warm summer days. Well optioned from day one, it’s equipped with
power steering, AM/FM radio and to keep cool from the Big Block 454, factory
Air Conditioning. Retained by the original owners until 1999, they had covered
a mere 21,700 miles since picking it up new, so this Corvette has obviously led
a well cared for life. Due to this, it has only required a simple repaint to
show as beautifully as it does today, while still retaining its factory applied
paint in the door jams and underhood areas, with factory glue still showing around
all door rubbers and seals, with its numbers matching LS5 454 and Muncie 4
speed transmission still in place. To this day, it only shows a little over
33,000 original, documented miles, comes complete with some owner history
documents, original bill of sale, warranty card and much more. A well
documented, low mileage un-restored Big Block Corvette with factory A/C ….. A
Corvette, or collector car enthusiasts dream.
