2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS
35th Anniversary Convertible
2002 was a big year in the history of the Chevrolet Camaro, full of positives and negatives. The big positive being the 35th year of production since Chevrolets F-body was introduced to do battle on the streets and showrooms with the Ford Mustang, very few cars reach such a milestone. This exciting event was unfortunately over shadowed by the news from General Motors that following the 2002 model year, production of the Camaro would cease, with no firm plan in place for its return.
To ensure the Camaro went out on a high note, GM announced the limited production 35th Anniversary Edition Camaro SS and presented here is one of such cars in Convertible body style. All anniversary cars were painted red with special silver striping and badging, special two tone leather interior with “35th Anniversary” embroidery and special wheel treatment. Based on the excellent performing “SS” Camaro, this car is powered by GM’s excellent 5.7L LS1 engine rated at 325hp connected to a 6 speed manual transmission with optional Hurst Shifter, and also features a Monsoon audio system with 12-disc CD changer. It retains the original convertible top cover and even comes complete with framed promotional poster, original sales brochure and window sticker. Owned since new by the original selling dealer, Brown Brothers Cadillac as part of their personal collection, this Anniversary Camaro was acquired showing a mere 4,959 miles since new. It is a fantastic low mileage example of an important part of GM performance and Camaro history.
