The epitome
of 50’s American auto styling is often considered to be the 1955-1957
Chevrolets, most particularly the Bel Air model. The stunning body lines
accented by the chrome and aluminum trim, and all the style blended with the
performance of the early Chevrolet Small Block engine and it is easy to see why
the marque has obtained such a high status.
This ground
up restored 1956 Bel Air convertible is a stunning example. From the two tone
Nassau Blue/India Ivory paint scheme with to the matching dark blue patterned
vinyl interior and white convertible soft top, it is a great model of how the
cars were built and looked in 1956. Making the car even more special is the
long list of optional accessories which can be seen on this car; power
steering, rear fender skirts, passenger side clock, rear mounted spare tire,
reverse lights, dual exhaust, wide white wall tires, even the passenger side
mounted tissue dispenser and not to mention the very sought after power top
option. A previous AACA Senior award winner, this Bel Air has been collector owned, always
housed in a fully secured climate controlled environment and as such still
shows just as it did the day the restoration was completed. The 265 cu in 4 barrel equipped V8 starts
and runs well, as does the optional Powerglide automatic transmission making
this a terrific convertible for the sunny afternoon cruises, sure to be a hit
at any show from local cruise nights to your national meets.
