1970 was a
year filled with changes to Chevrolets Camaro. The first all new body style was
introduced and following the incredible popularity of the first generation
would be a challenge. Some aspects of previous models were carried over for the
1970 model year though, such as the SS option and the incredible L78 396/375hp
engine.
This Hugger
Orange on Black interior 1970 model is powered by a numbers matching L78
396/375hp engine, attached the motor is a 4 speed Muncie and 12 bolt rear end. In order to
get the big block engine, you also were required to select the Z27 Super Sport
(SS) package which included special ornamentation, power brakes, black painted
grille, and much more. Selecting the 396 also forced RPO F41 suspension on the
car as well in order to properly handle the power upgrades. This car also
features the desirable Rally Sport (RS) package which included most notably the
split front bumpers, hide-away wipers, and bright accented taillights and back
up lights. The aggressive look of this Camaro is only further enhanced by the
front and rear spoilers with the proper SS wheels. A proper big block L78 2nd
generation car is something that does not come along often, and one with the
no-nonsense, all business look to match it such as this one is an even more rare
occurrence. A great opportunity for the Camaro aficionado or muscle car enthusiast
to obtain a rare piece of GM history, guaranteed to turn heads and get
attention whether it be at the local drive in or car show.
