The Corvette has always been, for Chevrolet, where the
latest and greatest technology can be found. 1965 was a big year for the
Corvette, and the only year you could acquire a Fuel Injection equipped 327
factory rated at 375hp along with the just introduced 4 wheel disc brakes and 4
wheel independent suspension. Due to the high cost of the L84 “Fuelie” in
comparison to the availability of the 396 Big Block to the Corvette in 1965
meant this would be the final year of production. Only 771 “Fuelie” Corvettes
were produced that year, making it the lowest production year for the L84
option.
This absolutely stunning 1965 Corvette “Fuelie” coupe is
finished in its factory color of Milano Maroon, while the white interior with
black trim has been fully restored and upgraded to leather upholstery. Of
course the center piece of this coupe is the numbers matching L84 Rochester
Fuel Injection equipped 327 factory rated at 375hp, a number out muscling the
output of many period big blocks. The numbers matching 4 speed Muncie
works smooth and gets all the power back to the independently sprung rear
wheels. This mid year is also equipped with power windows, telescopic steering
wheel, teak steering wheel, AM/FM radio, power antenna and knock off wheels
with Gold Line tires, completing the mid year package which has made the
1965-1967 Corvettes among the most desirable ever produced. Beautiful frame off
nut and bolt rotisserie restoration preformed by well known restorer Scott
Tiemann with near flawless polished paint, interior, engine bay and
undercarriage.
With only test miles since completion this
outstanding example marks the last of the L84 “Fuelie” 327 Corvettes and is a
valuable piece of Corvette history and a terrific addition to the collection of
the Corvette or classic car enthusiast alike.
