In the
collector car world, often it is the story behind the car that is as intriguing
as the car itself. The ability of the automobile to be more than just a car, to
often be looked upon as another individual and not just a mode of
transportation from A to B has created tales of extraordinary ownerships and
fascinating experiences that almost make us envious. This beautiful 1930 Pierce
Arrow Model B Roadster is such a car.
Purchased
new in the early stages of the Great Depression, this Roadster was already off
to a rough start. It was fortunate enough to find a steady proprietor who would
retain and care for the this cream color with beige fender open air car for
many years, eventually parting ways and sending the Roadster off with its
second owner. Until the mid 1990’s, this car would remain under the care of
this privileged individual, carefully maintained and driven. But all good
things must come to an end, and so the Pierce was exchanged for the first time
in almost 40 years and drove off with owner number three, a collector with a
big interest in the classy elegant cars of the 1930’s!! As the uniqueness of a
car grows, so do the opportunities for unique experiences. It would go on to be
used along with another car from the collection in the Universal Pictures movie
“Public Enemies”, the story of famous gangster John Dillinger. After all these
experiences, countless evening drives and road trips in the rumble seat with
the trunk full, this straight 8 cylinder engine still starts almost instantly
and runs smoothly, the car run and drives straight and turns more heads than
any modern car on the road. The paint remains in great condition with some
minor imperfections but these are far from detrimental and remain as signs of
the stories and adventures of days gone by. In such great condition, this
incredible car awaits the next chapter of its life. A true treasure for a
collector or Pierce Arrow enthusiast, this is a car that with lots of potential
for many stories to come.
