The Porsche 914 was first shown at the Frankfurt International Automobile Exhibition in 1969. This represents a joint venture between Porsche and Volkswagen that was the results of studies conducted by both firms, independently of each other where it was recognized that the mid-engine platform represented a promising future design trend. Having a longstanding agreement for co-operative work on projects; as usual Porsche handled the design and engineering duties. This layout is renowned for its precisely handling and the targa roof only adds to the enticement.
Two different versions were offered; the base 914 with a 1.7-liter, 80-hp flat four-cylinder engine and the 914/6 that ran with the Porsche 2.0-liter six-cylinder from the 911T that develops 110-hp.
This rare Porsche 914-6 has benefited from a complete no expense spared nut and bolt rotisserie restoration with only test miles since completion. It is finished in its factory as delivered extemley sought after Tangerine Orange exterior. The restoration was completed by a marque expert whom specializes in vintage Porsche restorations. The interior is just as the rest of the car and in excellent overall condition. The orange paint is concours level and looks equally impressive. The 2.0-liter engine is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Among the equipment is VDO instrumentation, Leather Steering Wheel, Console, Jack, Factory Fuchs Wheels, Blaupunkt Radio, Tinted Glass and Four-Wheel Disc Brakes. Under close inspection one can see the extreme level of restoration that was performed. From the engine bay to underside, from front to back as well as inside, one would be hard pressed to find another done to this level.
It comes fully documented with the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, Owner’s Manual and Ownership History until 1980. A unique opportunity to purchase a very collectable Porsche, fully documented and finished in its highly collectible factory colors complete with an outstanding restoration.
