The next generation Shelby Mustang was the GT500, and it incorporated Ford’s new big block power.  Upscale, professional and well off, the buyers Shelby and Ford targeted wanted performance at their disposal but also demanded their performance cars be comfortable and reliable daily drivers. The heart and soul of the car starts with the big block 428 cubic inch V8 Police Interceptor.  This motor featured a 10:1 compression, high lift cam and a pair of 600 cfm Holley four-barrels with progressive linkage and vacuum secondaries on an aluminum medium rise intake manifold. It was rated at a conservative 355 horsepower, but Shelby enthusiasts claim it actually pumped out some 50hp more while generating 420 lb-ft of tire scorching torque. For 1967, Shelby Mustangs got progressive rate springs that were comfortable on the freeway but, stiffened as they were compressed to give good handling.  The 1967 Shelby Mustangs came with the full complement of scoops as well as unique fiberglass hood, nose and rear deck. This Mustang on steroids filled the bill perfectly and outsold the 1967 GT350 by nearly two to one. Over the course of the year 2,048 were built, all in the fastback body style. In 1967, there really was nothing that could surpass the Shelby GT500 as it overpowered the competition on the track, back streets and straightaways, and was just plain bad-to-the-bone giving free attitude adjustments to anyone and everything that stood in its way.

This 1967 Shelby GT500 was originally delivered to Schanzmeyer Ford in Jefferson City, Missouri on January 25th, 1967. Equipped with the dual quad 428 Police Interceptor engine and a C6 Auto transmission, this Lime Gold with white stripe Shelby has not only the look but, the performance to back it up. Equipped with Air Conditioning, Extra Cooling Package, Deluxe Wheels, Shoulder Harness, Courtesy Light Group, Interior Décor Group, In-Board Mounted Driving Lights, AM Radio, Fold Down Rear Seat, Power Steering and Power Brakes. This Shelby has been very nicely restored, over the most recent years it has been a part of a large collection, carefully housed in a fully climate-controlled environment. This GT500 truly represents a fantastic opportunity for the enthusiast or collector to obtain one of the early Big Block Shelby Mustangs; sure to be a centerpiece of any collection.

This GT500 comes fully documented with a Elite Marti Report and of coarse listed in the  Shelby American World Registry, fully documenting the way it was initially assembled and delivered. A great look with a great car, this is a fantastic opportunity to obtain a well restored example of a true highlight of Mustang performance and Shelby Heritage.
