The 1953 Model 3100 Chevrolet Pickup came at the end of a relatively short-lived era of truck that began in the 1948 model year. The 3100 was the first major development after World War II and was one of the most popular trucks on the market.
From 1948 through 1953 there were just a few changes to the Chevy 3100, including slight grille adjustments, while the engine gradually got stronger. The 1950 model may have been the most popular of the era, but the 1953 had a few more years of development, making it a bit more advanced. When introduced in 1948 it had a 216-cubic inch engine, but by 1953 it was sporting a 261-cubic inch powerplant with increased horsepower and more torque.
