LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1937 Packard Twelve. Packard Automobiles defined the standard of luxury for all American cars in the Automotive industry. In the 1930’s Packard’s elegant offerings were on top of the luxury car market being purchased by only the wealthiest and royal people in the world. The Packard Twelve was so smooth on the road it earned the tagline “Boss of the Road”. In the age of pre-war luxury, the Twelve was faster than all other offerings from marques such as Cadillac and Pierce Arrow

By the 1930’s Packard had developed some of the best V12 engines on the market. This roadster has the 473 cubic inch L-head V12 engine, certainly was at the pinnacle of performance in 1937 producing 175bhp. The Twelve’s drivetrain and suspension underwent its most dramatic redesign in the model’s history. The new model redesign included such changes as, a new 3-speed synchromesh, “Safe-T-Flex” independent front suspension, a proven hydraulic brake system, vacuum assisted clutch and steel disk wheels. These improvements lead to the Packard Twelves being widely regarded as some of the most driver-friendly cars of the Classic Era. Of the Packard Twelves, the open body styles are considered the most desirable are only rarely offered for sale.

For over 50 years, this gorgeous Roadster was cherished in a collection of well-known Southern California collector.  Prior to the sale of the car by its previous caretaker, the decision was made to have a professional frame off restoration done on his two owner Roadster. This restoration was done to concours standards being well documented throughout with photographs and receipts. The frame off restoration involved a high level of detail, including duplicating such details as the factory pinstripe patterning, a correct leather interior and a properly detailed engine bay. Also, the car includes the factory accessories including: a heater, a trunk rack, a correct 30-gallon fuel gauge indicator, a factory-installed AM radio, under-car antenna and chrome wheel covers that are complete with their Packard emblems.

This Roadster is a known, genuine and highly rare classic with only 69 built like it. This Packard Twelve is also highly original and still wears the original firewall tag. It’s a two-owner vehicle with a record of history dating back to the 1950’s. Attributed to its impeccable restoration it has gone on to win the CCCA Senior Premier status and AACA National First Prize. This Packard Twelve Roadster is the ultimate in pre-war luxury and styling. It’s a museum quality show piece that is just at home at a concours show as it is on the road.  Don’t miss your chance to add to your collection this highly rare Packard Roadster that is also an absolute pleasure to drive with its massive whisper quiet engine.
